What type of equipment do you use?

We utilize Canon’s professional XL-2 video cameras.  A flexible, broadcast quality producing camera that is used in event, T.V. documentary and music video productions.  Canon is an industry standard manufacturer of  professional video lenses and the 20x optical zoom fluorlite lens on the XL-2 creates beautiful images.  We have an assortment of microphones, from Sennheiser wireless and shotgun on boom, to Shure instrument recording  and lavalier microphones.  We have professional lighting and a dedicated legal video production case for travel to depositions and all legal video needs.

Do you shoot in HD?

Yes we have it available.  High Definition video recording is a rapidly evolving technology and is recorded in various compression codecs and media.  The most common you will see in the affordable range is known as HDV, the most highly compressed of the HD family.  It is the type used on all consumer level HD video cameras and also the entry level of professional HD cameras.  It produces beautiful video, however the difference from a higher end professional HD camera is that the less compressed the recording codec, the richer and more detailed picture you get.  Have you watched the Discovery Channel in High Definition?  That, as we like to say is “The Bomb” (and the cost would blow most budgets.)  Another consideration is DVD recording and playback technology, at this writing being battled between HD DVD and Blu-Ray HD ( signed onto by Sony and Apple Corp as major supporters)  Currently, high definition DVD players available to consumers range from $600 to $1,000.00 dollars.  It will come down in the near future.

What are your turnaround times for a completed video project?

12 to 20 weeks. It is dependant on the event and size of the project.  Each one will be individually arraigned with the client.  This 12 to 20 week window is subject to change as production calendar schedules can fluctuate from very busy to normal, but will be determined before the start of a project.

What are your contract requirements?

All video production services are stipulated by a written contract between Genesis Video Productions and the client. We require a 50% deposit for the particular project upfront and the remaining at delivery of the video.  Cancellations from 45 to 30 days from project start date will receive a 75% refund.  From 29 to 15 days prior to start a 50% refund and from 14 days to project start no refund.  This is to protect our booking calendar for other potential clients.

Will you travel for a video production?

Within Whatcom County all travel is included with the production fees.  Outside travel is charged on a per mile rate  ( subject to change at the whim of the oil companies and the cost of fuel! ).  We will also travel in or out of country as client needs require.  Airfare cost, lodging and meal per diem is borne by the client.

Do you require food at Wedding Receptions?

The wedding day for the videographer is non-stop.  To properly record your wedding and reception there is not time to take a lunch or dinner break off site, nor is it practical to carry a sack lunch.  We require that in the meal planning for the reception that food would be provided for the videographers .   A well fed videographer is a well focused videographer
